Q: How often do I need to clean my carpets?

A: We recommend that you clean your carpets at least once a year! Most carpet manufacturers recommend that carpets should be cleaned at least once a year and will warn that a carpet warranty could be voided if professorial cleanings aren't performed at most 18 months apart. Here are a few other facts as to why you should have your carpet professionally cleaned by us today!

Fact #1- Indoor air can be as many as 5 times more polluted than outdoor air!

It is a fact, inside your house you don't have the sanitizing effect of the UV light generated by the sun, the cleaning and refreshing effects of the rain or the dusting effect of the wind. Your home traps contaminants through the year, air pollution, herbicides, fertilizer, food crumbs, cooking oils, soot from burning incense, candles, or  wood, pet waste, etc. the list goes on and on! If you own carpets you are in luck though, you already have giant filters working for you. Contrary to popular belief, a well maintained carpet acts as a filter in your home trapping pollutants and releasing them only during regular weekly vacuuming and yearly professional cleanings. Hard surfaces like hardwoods, vinyl and tile floors lack the ability to hold dust, air currents inside your home simply blow already settle dust back into the air, depositing over your furniture, clothing and lungs. Did you ever wonder why the black lines at the carpet's edges? Black soil filtration lines are good examples of your carpet filtering action trapping soot produced by the burning of candles, wood, incense, car exhaust or air pollution in big cities (the closer to the city you live, the more noticeable this lines are) Ever wonder where all this black lines would be if you only had hardwoods? For sure a lot of this stuff would end in your lungs.

"Results of a Home-Based Environmental Intervention among Urban Children with Asthma"  The New England Journal of Medicine.

"Good News about carpet and Air Quality" The Canadian Carpet Institute (links to studies done by, Swedes, Germans and Americans) has nice easy to understand graphs and titles like the German's, " Wall-to-wall carpet is better!")

Fact #2- How does your carpet feel and look?
Oily soils grab dirt and lock it in your carpets fibers through a process called "oxidation" causing color change, and becoming permanently stained, we have managed to reverse some of this damage with special products and extra heavy cleaning applied, but why wait until the carpet gets to this point? On average you can have your carpets professionally cleaned 10-15 times before coming near to is replacement cost. That means that you can have a good looking and clean carpet every year for the next 15 years for the cost of a new one. If you maintained your carpets through the years you may get another 15 years more out of it!  I once was asked by a customer how old I thought his white carpet was, I replied, 10 years, it turned out it was 40 years old I checked for myself that the carpet backing was made out of jute. A natural material that most manufacturers had stopped using back in the 70's.

Fact #3 -Soil and sand are scratching your carpet!
The longer you wait between cleanings, the more soil and sand will be grinding at your expensive carpet fibers that are filling up your vacuum bag.

Q: Can you remove the black lines around the carpet edge?

A: Yes, we can get as much as 90% of the black soil filtration lines at no extra charge!

Q: How much do you charge?
A: We calculate the carpet cleaning cost based on square footage we do not add any travel charges or fuel sub-charges to the final cost. We do not make any high pressure sales during the job. We use an accurate laser measuring tool to arrive to the exact square footage.  We  first  give our customers a guess-estimate over the phone based on information given about the job, if this amount is withing the customer range, then we schedule a cleaning appointment.  Once at the job site we will proceed to accurately measure the areas that need to be cleaned and we will provide you with a exact cleaning cost once upon approval we will proceed to clean your carpets . Remember, Restore One has a  NO OBLIGATION POLICY! If our cleaning cost is way off from what was quoted over the phone you don't have to do the job. We regularly get very close to the quoted price.

Q: Should I move my furniture?

A: We recommend that you move the smaller pieces of furniture like dinning chairs or side tables and breakables items like glass vases of works of art. We will move the larger heavier pieces like sofas and dinning tables. We usually move this items just enough to reach underneath to clean and  then replace them back to  where they belong placing clear plastic tabs under their legs so they would not stain the carpet while it dries. We do not move pianos, computers, loaded bookcases, or entertainment centers (things that could brake if moved), please fill free to ask us for more details!

Q: How long would my carpet take to dry?

A: In optimal drying conditions it can take as little as 2 hours, however in most cases 6-12 hrs. seems to be the norm.  Drying times vary widely dependig on many factors like carpet thickness and type of material the carpet is made of (wool and nylon take longer to dry than olefin and polyester). Soiling condition, temperature, and air circulation also affect drying times. Leaving a couple windows cracked open just an inch for air circulation can cut the drying time by as much as 50%. In winter months this drying effect is increased due to higher temperature differentials and its favorable  influence on relative humidity. Cold air can't hold very much moisture but, let a little bit in and it will triple is moisture carrying capacity inside your home at 7o degrees!
Q: Does Restore One uses safe products for pets and family?
A: Yes we do! We only use tested biodegradable and environmentally friendly products as well as plant based "green products" at no extra charge. Please note we only use "green products" at this time per customers request. We are not convinced that "green products" are as green as they claim to be!  Plant based products need cultivation therefore, water, fertilizers and pesticides, as well as a bigger energy input during transportation and production to generate and equal amount of cleaning power to traditional detergents. That means they have a bigger carbon foot print and they just as corn bio-fuel do, cause earth pollution and food prices to increase. This is only our point of view, it is not our objective to get political in this site. We like to raise awareness about the subject to our customers based on our findings and let you, the customer, decide!

Please send us  a question and we will answer it for you and also add it to our Q&A! Thank you!
